So what is the purpose of having the encrypted password column if the unencrypted one is still there? 0.o

just remove the part where you query the standard password. As long as the password column is empty and the encrypted is inserted, you'll log in fine.

Hi,

Im struggling with my database server and these scripts.

I run my own server and have created a database (via ISPConfig) and called the database c1arcemu and added username + password etc.

when updating scripts i get errors connecting to the database table as im unsure what i will in for the database name.

While setting up arcemu i created databases arcemu-acct etc

which do i use?

sorry if its a n00b question

I got a question I installed this as a php page on my joomla site http://www.emu-nation.org/ and when i test it to see if it makes a account it redirects me to the front page without registering the account does anyone know why it does this?

Edit: I figured it out if anyone wants to know <form action="'.htmlentities($_SERVER['PHP_SELF']).'" method="post"> that PHP_SELF has to be changed to the location of your php file if you using joomla or somthing like that

Um. I'd recommend doing:

<form action="<PHP FILE NAME HERE>" method="post">

instead of putting in the $_SERVER[''].

           function is_email($mail)
           {
                         $regex='#^[\w.-]+@[\w.-]+\.[a-zA-Z]{2,5}$#';
                  if(preg_match($regex,$mail));
                  {
                         $c = mysql_query("SELECT email FROM accounts WHERE email = '$mail';");
                         if(mysql_num_rows($c) == 0)
                                return true;
                  }
                  return false;
           }

A much better solution to this using filter_var
function is_email($string)
{
   if (!filter_var($string, FILTER_VALIDATE_EMAIL))
      return false;
   return mysql_num_rows (mysql_query("SELECT EMail FROM accounts WHERE email='$string'")) == 0;
}

BTW guys this is a out of date one now. Sure it works if you tweak it, but that is the thing you have to tweak it to make it more secure and up to date with latest PHP. So if you want a simple, secure signup page that is more up to date and don't want to have to do the work I did it for you.

You should copy vBulletin's method of logging in for this; encrypt the password into a hidden field with md5 using javascript, unset the original one then submit form.
