As I wrote here before some players strongly claims that it is too hard to kill some NPCs.

At the moment I'm checking some resistance values, f.ex. shadow resistance.

I have seen that most creatures that includes the word Shadow inside their names have a shadow resistance of 2550.

Check it on this page: http://landofelves.net/?p=npc . Type shadow in the search box and have a look to some NPCs, like panthers f.ex.

Mangos database have for most of these NPCs a value of 0.

But also a world boss like Azgalor (id 17842) has in our db a shadow resistance of 9876 and in Mangos it is 0.

Does anybody have some ideas about this ?

I stumbled upon this bug some time ago when i was contributing to whydb. Some of the npc's do have increased resistances. Try trinity database instead of mangos, there the values are a bit more normal.

I can tell you something funny.
There are some boars for example who cannot be killed by shadow damage. They resist it all :D

I've managed to extract some data from trinity database and turn it into a patch. This only affects npc's that had resistance values higher than 200 (this is the filter i used). When i tried to run the patch however, i stumbled upon a very interesting thing: Some of the npc's in TDB had negative resistance, but when i tried to enter a negative resistance number into arcemu database i got an error saying that this is not a valid format. Is arcemu capable of support negative resistance values? If it is, then we must change the resistance columns in creature_proto. For now i commented the rows that will give error when run and there might be some high resistance npc left. I have some appointments for the weekend, but when i get back i will test some negative resistance values myself. Here is the current patch:

The resistance in the db is a unsigned int. Therefore it doesn't support negative values. But anyway: a negative resistance ? What kind of meaning should that be ?

Looking to your sql file I think it quite the same like Magnos. It sets most resistance to 0.

However in some kind I like the idea that a shadow panther or a shadow priest has some shadow resistance. I will use in the db this pragmatic way. :D I think this is than quite fair to the players.

UPDATE creature_proto SET resistance1=resistance1/10 WHERE resistance1>1000;
UPDATE creature_proto SET resistance2=resistance2/10 WHERE resistance2>1000;
UPDATE creature_proto SET resistance3=resistance3/10 WHERE resistance3>1000;
UPDATE creature_proto SET resistance4=resistance4/10 WHERE resistance4>1000;
UPDATE creature_proto SET resistance5=resistance5/10 WHERE resistance5>1000;
UPDATE creature_proto SET resistance6=resistance6/10 WHERE resistance6>1000;

EDIT:
I think it's still too much :)
Maybe divide by 20 ?

Well i was also surprised by the negative resistances. But there might be something to it actually. Say a npc has very high resistance of one type but it increases the damage taken from another type of spells. Say for example a fire elemental has very high fire resistance but it takes increased frost damage. There should be a spell effect that reduces the resistances of the npc's / players and even set them to negative. For example Curse of Elements (warlock). When you put this spell on a npc or player it increases the damage that you do to him despite the fact that the player or npc may not have any resistance what so ever.
