So I've got a working server on a dedicated system and the problem I'm running into is the wow.exe client is wanting to force an upgrade before I can log in. I've got the correct realm information set (set realm 127.0.0.1) and when I try to log in, it wants to update. Any suggestions?

PS. I'm a bit of a noob at this. The server is running on a dedicated CentOS system, compiled correct with 0 errors. My ultimate goal is to have a local working server to start banging the database for some local customization/programming and testing the results on a local only client (local to my network at least).

TIA

(if I've posted in the wrong forum, please feel free to move. This looked like the best place)

probably you are runing launcher.exe... try runing wow.exe :)

Also check if show launcher is disabled in the login screen.

I checked that. The software install does not have launcher.exe anywhere in the path. I have done a full install from the 3.5.5a and tested it against another public (private) server. When I connect to that server, there is no problems logging in, creating a character etc. It's only happening local.

Try to replace the line

Quote

set patchlist ... (I can't remember exactly how this line goes on...)
in realmlist.wtf with something like

Quote

set patchlist 127.0.0.1
Then it shouldn't try to update anymore.

Edit: Oops, I was too slow... <_<

Awesome thanks! Took me right in. I'll consider this one closed. Time for some hacking on the database.
