Some players on our server reports that they see sometimes NPCs twice or 4 times.

I never could reproduce this fault. May somebody else can confirm this behaviour ?

I had this issue with packed movement that was similar, changed some things and it worked fine.

Spline movement packets are packed movement.

My movement system is different so it's hard to explain what was changed, just that before I would have 1 or 2 creatures with the same guide client side, and sometimes 4 would be running in place like after images.

Well it seems that this problem is growing. More and more bugs of this kind are reported by different players.

Far as i know you guys are heavy lua users... try removing all lua stuff. That could be the problem :)

That's true and some are very old, found in the deep of the internet :D At least they don't produce any errors.

But of course the scripts are not just for decoration. They do their job for some specific reason.

The problem is: Because I can't reproduce this fault, I also can't say if it's getting better without the Lua scripts. I should have to switch them off for several weeks and check if there are less or no more reports of such kind of bugs.

But I think a lot of the Lua scripts get soon obsolete because we add also arcscript2 into the server.

Is there a specific reason why you are thinking about Lua script ? Efficiency problem ? Or just bad programmed scripts ?

maybe some idea, there was a while back also issues with hunters summoning pets and doing some **** like teleport and or mounting up what caused also to spawn a new creature (pet)..

might be worth a try, and i assume you checked the dbase that there wasn't some double spawns in there maybe diff phase or sumething and the gms did not spawn new ones?

or just like someone said already maybe some lua script that spawns some creatures ? would be nice if someone tries to reproduce it..

just my 2 cents... ;)

We use it rare on the player server, but we use it <_<. At least a good idea to keep in mind.

My first thought was that it's something about networking. Such data about npc positions ... are they send by UDP packages ? May the packages are received over the network several times ?

All of them are normal NPC, not scripted, not customized. I'm quite sure there's no database problem, especially because it's not reproducable for me.
