Hello all. I recently installed ArcEmu on my computer to fool around with a server, as I have wanted to do so for quite some time. I have a background in SQL and C# and am trying to start learning some LUA so that I can configure stuff for the server before I take it live for some of my friends and I to play on. The server itself is up and running, and I am currently learning all the gm commands and such.

I have read a few articles here already and look forward to learning what I can. :P

I would like to ask if anyone can point me in the direction of either some scripts that fix some of the issues with quests (such as players not interacting with environment objects correctly) or where to start in editing the already existing scripts. I am not looking for a complete how to for LUA, just maybe a site that introduces the table structure and basic functions of the scripted events (such as how/where I create new NPCs and have them perform actions based on the LUA scripts).

Many thanks in advance for anything offered.

Hello and welcome to our community!

You can find some documentation about the table structure on our wiki, as for editing the scripts, that will require some deeper understanding about either Lua, or C++ AND the flags, and values used in the wow protocol.
You can find some documentation about those flags and values here on the forums ( there are some articles that deal with those ).

I have seen people mention, as you did, that you can use either LUA or C++ to edit the scripts, and I was wondering if you had a recommendation about which one I should pursue? I know LUA is more lightweight and seems to be a little easier to grasp, (and man would I like to avoid having to use pointers if possible) but is it possible to do more customized things with C++?

I have been querying my way through a bit of the table structure, getting used to the keys that link the tables together, and it is less cryptic than I had worried it would be. I look forward to the challenge. :P

Well you should be able to do most things in Lua, so I wouldn't worry about it.
If you are missing something from Lua, just put in a feature request and it will be implemented in time!
