Despite how the title of this topic sounds, its not rude. xD

I'd like to know if there is any chance of being able to insert character information for a new character either directly into the "characters" table or into the "character_insert_queue" from an external script, a php page for example?

You help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks, Xeeler

Hi there,

indeed there is the possibility to insert characters which has probably alrady been discussed. You should make a forum search and find it.

nothing more than a sql script... but i think it is likely a fairly long one... there is a lot of information spread across several tables for each character (powers that be correct me here if i am mistaken).... but in theory it isnt really hard at all...

EDIT: DOH!! beat me to it... lol

Thanks for replying so quick. After a quick search of the forum I came across a couple of posts but not really relevant to my use.

My scenario is this;

I've got a website where one can register their account,

Now, as many of you probably know from "Retail" whenever there is a beta or a PTR realm available, one can choose pre-mades that get put straight onto their account. I was attempting to make such a system and have most of it in place except the main code for actually inserting said character.

So I guess my initial question should have been, Is it possible to insert a character externally and for it to be loaded for use without the need of a server restart/table reload

possible to insert

I think there was a config switch for controlling the update of the relevant tables. Probably you might be able do create a user and this premade char you speak of by just inserting it?

mysql_query("INSERT INTO ... VALUES ...");

What is the problem here? doesnt it work?
