Had a look briefly at Programmers Notpad.

I'll be sticking with Notpad++ :)

It looks like a good program if you have the time to workout how it works.
As soon as I started it, it wanted access to the net. I assume or hope thats for autoupdates obviously I blocked it.
After 10 mins of flicking through the settings i could not find a way to turn off the autoupdates (if that was why it needed internet access). Perhaps I missed the setting.

Notpad++ nice and simple and easy to use :)

For linux you can run Notepad++ in wine

i think scintilla and SciTE are available aswell for Win32 and Linux with GTK+ even tho i fear scintilla does look horrible :)

well programmers notepad was the first one that i could come across that was for free and i did like 20 different scans on it cause i thought it was to good to be true i wanted to make sure it was a safe to use program
and it does a number of things other then ++ a small list of things that pn can do c++ xml sql php html visualbasic vbscript javascript c# and css it can also open the old win95/98 word docs and notepads so you can view them cause i have had problems with the old wordpads and notepads that where used from win95/98 winxp couldnt open them i always thought it was strange tho

but anyways i figured that everyone could post there favorite programming edit program as a link like i did it well help out and give ppl a chance to choose them selfs witch one they like
