First of all, Greeting to all of you! :)

I use Ubuntu to run my wow server so i keep Updating and Building the core from console all the time
This was a bit annoying since i had to type and type and type all the commands every single time i wanted to build the core.

So i came up with a script to do that job for me ;p
I'm releasing that one in case some of have have the same problem, not that is a huge one
but will take save some time ;)

What does the script do ?
  • Updating the files from the SVN, shows the revision you have and after the update u get the new revision number (meh, nothing pro huh?)
  • Building the core and suppress the text, leaving only Errors / Warnings etc...

As i told you, this isn't anything special, just save some time

Although you have to do some changes to the script.. nothing much, just change the path and set permissions to execute.
You can change the content with "vi" editor
-(Press Insert Button to add text, then ESC to stop adding, after that pres :wq )
or with gEdit (if you have graphical interface at your distro)
or any other editor....

Let's see what you have to change.

### Path where you installed / downloaded ArcEMU
## Like: /media/HDD2/arcemu/installer/trunk

### Path where you want to "put"the release after the make.
## Like: /media/HDD2/arcemu/server

Obviously you have to set the paths...
This isn't so hard... :)
(ps: DON'T add any space!! or it will not work... Bash doesn't like spaces some times... :P )

Now, the next thing you do is to set permissions for the file to be executed.
this can be done with the following command:
chmod 755 01-make_arcemu

So.. since we have set the path and permissions, we can run the script by typing

or by double clicking the script in the desktop (assuming you have one...)
