Greetings everyone, recently I was asked a question similar to this one "How do I become a developer?"

Well, there's a simple explanation on how to become a developer.
First you'll start as a member just downloading our core via the svn.

Next you'll stat looking into the core and you'll be like hm.. this shouldn't be here and you will then find you have code different from what we have. Hmmm you'll say to yourself what now?

Well, that part is simple now that you have code that differs form us, you have to get it to us so you'll follow this tutorial if you're a Windows user.

Basically what will happen is you'll create a patch, then you'll have to post your patch in this section, where it will be reviewed by our staff and community. If and when your patch is deemed acceptable it will be applied to the svn.

So you'll continue finding things, and fixing things, making patches, submitting patches, then one day you'll receive a pm on our forums.
We will ask some questions, ask you come into irc and chat with us.
And then that's that :)

Requirements:

Knowledge of C++
Understanding of GCC and writing code for different operating systems
An understanding of sql
You've submitted patches or have been recommended based on code samples provided (patches, etc)
Understanding of team work, and that you'll be on a team based on a large community

Pluses:

Experience working with Linux
Experience working with BSD(FreeBSD, OpenBSD, NetBSD)
Previous work based around a community and development team

If you want to become a developer, there's always time to start!
I recommend joining us on irc @ irc.arcemu.info:6667 #arcemu
