Hi

I would like to ask if you also have this strange behaviour.

On our server the server time differs from time to time for several hours. When I start the server everything is well. Sometimes for a long time. And sometimes it happens that the time differs.
But only the hours differs. The minutes are all the time exact +/- 1 min.

Of course than the day/night changes are not correct in the client.

I put that last year in the svn bugtracker. But never heard anything about. :D

Are you sure it's a problem with Arcemu and not the server itself?
Sometimes I see that the clock gets messed up on some of the servers I manage ( not wow servers ).

Yes. The clock of Win7 OS is working well and exactly.

I´m working on the same server as Magnifikator.

It´s really a little bit confusing when the server time differs. Especially because day and night is not shown correct.

We have international players online. For them is not important. Because they live in a different timezone. But I liked it very much if day/night cycle was congruent to my local situation.

The only additional information I can give is the fact that if we write the local server time by a Lua script it shows us the correct server time.

Not really, but I belive it's only if players are on. When the server runs without player I belive the time stays exact. But I didn't tested it well.

Now we have 2 different logon server with 1 realm each. When I have time I will add a 2nd realm and restart everything.

Than I can tell if there are differences between realms too.

Edit:
Yesterday I started all servers new.
So 22:00 Everything is ok, time is correct
So 24:00 Everything is ok, time is still correct
Mo 08:05 On one server the time is 8:05, on the other server the time is 0:05 on both realms

More or less no players was on. So I was wrong with my idea of players. But most time the time differs in full hours, f.ex. client time 16:47, server time 10:47. But not in every case.

2nd Edit
Local time is now Monday 20:50.
On one server we have now 12:50. And on the other server one realm is ok and on the other realm we also have 12:50

Funny, isn't it. :D

(The realm with the correct time could be restarted today in the night(morning) at 2:00, I guess, :D)

I have the same issue. But I noticed it first on a modified realm I am running with some custom code. SO I wasn't sure it was arcemu's fault. Now I am also running a plain arcemu realm to find out if I see same issue. It really sucks and is a showstopper. Last time I had 12 hours difference after just 2 days.

Good to know that we are not the only ones with that problem :P

I was not able to reproduce the fault. But it happens all the time. I'm surprised about that fault. Because normally most software is using the hardware clock of the system and not using any internal soft counters.

On the other hand the difference is always full hours. On our system the difference is 8 hours (mostly). So I'm thinking about if ArcEmu forgets somewhere the timezone.

I'm living in a timezone GMT+1 and in realms.conf I have TimeZone = "9"

How about you ?

So we are the german people here :(!
actually I think our timezone is in winter GMT+1 and in summer GMT+2. realms.conf "should" never matter. Its just for the realmlist but there is a timezone setting in world.conf that I have set to 1 ........... Might be worth to turn this to zero again and see if issue persists.

Swiss ! Don't forget the Swiss :(

My setting in world.config timezone was always 0. And if we live in the same timezone and I have a difference of 8h and you of 12h, I think than it's not timezone related. Why you are not living in Uummannaq (Greenland)? That would explain the 4h :D

Still exactly 8 hours is the time difference on our server. Even with a newer compiled core.

And still no ideas where it comes from. ;)

Well someone will have to track the bug down first and fix it, then it will work just fine ;)

To put more attraction to this topic I add a nice picture of a kitten

Personally, for me it's interesting that on our server the difference is always 8h (if happen) and on Artox's server it can be 12h, as he wrote.

May we should implement somewhere in the code a trap that detects when there is a difference of system clock and internal clock and make a small report, to a file f.ex.

Well we're aware of the issue, there's just noone available right now to work on the issue.
Btw your idea is nice, however you should remember that the game time is already set from the system clock, so I don't think it would work.
However from July I will have *some* more free time ( since school ends and I just have to work ) so I will be able to take a look.
