Introduction

Me and Swift took a break from working on the Wowhead tool today, so I took some time to work on this.

Basically I took Krillin's old website and started fixing it's numerous bugs.

Posted Image

I'm still not done with it, but I decided that enough of it works now to release a 'beta' version.

Fixes and Updates

Quote

-Fixed the entire Admin/Moderator System
-Took off all the cookies, turned it into a huge session
-Took off the theme switcher, I'll put it back in when it works again
-Took off Support for Ludmilla and Mangos. Might put it back in again
-Fixed account creation tool. NOTE: I used YennZo's sign up page (slightly modified)
-Fixed some of the styling issues
-Fixed the server status tool
-Took off the webanalyse tool
-Took off the chat tool, and modified the shoutbox
-Changed the redirect of index.html
-I'm trying to find more ways to reduce the size of this thing (Went down about 5 mb today)

Good work! I was looking for a Blizzlike website a couple weeks ago, but wasn't able to find any there were updated, so I simply made my own custom site. I'm sure this'll get quite a bit of use though :)

When running the install.php I get this:

The requested URL /.$lang[ was not found on this server.

And the readme isn't helpfull at all.

Can we get more comprehensive install instructions on this?

Yep. I'll write a new installation guide at the end.

For the URL error was a line number given?

Nope, but it's this section:
echo "<br>Rewriting index.html <br>";
$fn = "index.html";
$data = '<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">
<html><head><meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">
<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0;url='.$lang['rootdirectory'].'">
</head><body></body></html>';
$rh = fopen($fn,"w");
if($rh===false) { echo '<font color="red">Cannot open file</font>'; } else {
if (fwrite($rh, $data) === FALSE) { echo '<font color="red">Cannot write to file, check your chmods</font>'; }  else {
 @fclose($rh);
echo '<font color="blue">You have successfully written data to index.html</font>'; }}

Try:

echo "<br>Rewriting index.html <br>";
$fn = "index.html";
$data = '<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">
<html><head><meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">
<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0;url=<YOUR URL>">
</head><body></body></html>';
$rh = fopen($fn,"w");
if($rh===false) { echo '<font color="red">Cannot open file</font>'; } else {
if (fwrite($rh, $data) === FALSE) { echo '<font color="red">Cannot write to file, check your chmods</font>'; }  else {
 @fclose($rh);
echo '<font color="blue">You have successfully written data to index.html</font>'; }}

Where <YOUR URL> is the URL to the file path to install.php. That should fix it. I'll rewrite the install.php file later.

Why didn't you go for the WotLK Theme? :)

Two reasons.

1) This is something I don't want to really spend much time on. I'm just fixing and finishing one of the most expected website releases (the author never finished it).

2) WOTLK theme is what Karnith is doing. If you look closely you will see that he uses some of the same format. If you saw the ACP that he made- before the Joomla change- you will notice that it is almost identical to the one from this template.

I guess you could consider this as a temporary template until Karnith releases his version :)

Doesn't work with

Quote

echo "<br>Rewriting index.html <br>";
$fn = "index.html";
$data = '<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">
<html><head><meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">
<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0;url=c:\wamp\www\install.php">
</head><body></body></html>';
$rh = fopen($fn,"w");
if($rh===false) { echo '<font color="red">Cannot open file</font>'; } else {
if (fwrite($rh, $data) === FALSE) { echo '<font color="red">Cannot write to file, check your chmods</font>'; } else {
@fclose($rh);
echo '<font color="blue">You have successfully written data to index.html</font>'; }}

Any help please? Thank's

You have to put the external address.

This:

Quote

c:\wamp\www\install.php

Is the internal address (meaning the one your computer uses). The external would be something like http://localhost/install.php

I kinda dropped this. I did this out of boredom, and I have some work to do for the SoS server- which I have to finish before school starts again (this monday, for me).

Almost everything works right now, so you should be able to do what you need to do with it.

Uh.. You don't add sites to mysql databases :)

They go to the FTP. Sometimes, sites need you to run SQL files- and you run those as a query exactly like you ran your database.

Converting a Mangos site to ArcEmu isn't as easy as you thing. Other than having to change all the queries, you also have to take in account that Mangos uses way more of the database than ArcEmu does. This allows Mangos sites to have much better sites that can do much more.

But still, I might take a look later on. I'm working on a very special and secret project with pingue right now :)
